Fastest Leveling Class in WoW Midnight
Updated: Game version: Patch 12.1.5
In short
In current WoW (Midnight), every class levels quickly and your route matters more than your class. Classes with self-healing, mobility and area damage feel especially fast, such as Demon Hunter, Hunter, Death Knight and Paladin.
Sooner or later, anyone racing to max level asks: which class is the fastest? The honest answer for current WoW (Midnight): your class makes only a small difference, your route a big one. Playing WoW Forever? There is a separate guide: fastest leveling class in WoW Forever.
What makes a class level fast
- Little downtime: If you can heal yourself or have a pet that soaks damage, you rarely need to eat, drink or wait.
- Area damage: Defeating several enemies at once saves a lot of time on quests with many targets.
- Mobility: Leaps, sprints and travel forms get you from objective to objective faster.
- Forgiveness: Every death costs time. Sturdy classes forgive more.
Classes that feel fast while leveling
Every class levels quickly in current WoW. Common Midnight leveling guides agree that your route matters more than your class. There is no ranking with measured times. These classes do feel especially fast on the road, though:
- Demon Hunter: Double jump, glide and Fel Rush make it the most mobile class, with self-healing and lots of area damage on top.
- Hunter: As Beast Mastery you fight on the move, your pet holds enemies, and Feign Death gets you out of trouble.
- Death Knight: Death Strike heals you in every fight, so you can take on big groups at once.
- Paladin: Plate armor, self-healing and emergency buttons. As Retribution you level safely and without breaks.
How to actually level faster
- Stick to the campaign. The main story takes you through the new zones without detours and gives lots of experience.
- Run dungeons in between. As a tank or healer in particular, you get into a group fast.
- Use rested experience. Logging out in an inn or a city builds bonus experience for your next session.
- Pull more enemies. Defeating several quest enemies at once with area damage is faster than one after another.
- Pick leveling talents. While leveling, self-healing, mobility and area damage matter more than top single-target damage.
- For alts: Chromie Time lets you choose an expansion freely instead of playing them in order. Level where you have the most fun.
Fun beats speed
The fastest class is not worth much if you do not enjoy it. The differences are small, and a class you like playing automatically levels more smoothly. If you are still undecided, the class quiz can help, or let the fast candidates fight it out in the class tournament. More on playing without a group is in the guide to the best solo class.
