How It Feels
Devastation is the dragon fantasy in its purest form. You breathe fire on your enemies, tear into them with blue magic and lob fireballs that hit whole groups. Evokers are half dragon, half spellcaster, and Devastation shows it in every spell.
What sets it apart are empowered spells: you hold the key, charge the spell in ranks and decide how strong it should be. Add a short range that brings you closer to the action than other casters.
How Devastation Works
The Evoker uses Essence and empowered spells:
- Basic spell: Living Flame is your standard spell and deals Fire damage.
- Empowered: you charge Fire Breath and Eternity Surge in ranks by holding the key. Higher ranks hit more targets or deal more damage.
- Spend Essence: Disintegrate is a channeled blue beam against one target, Pyre a fireball against groups.
- Dragonrage: your big cooldown, Essence Burst triggers far more often.
- Movement: Hover lets you cast while moving, Deep Breath flies you across the battlefield.
Key Abilities
- Living Flame: your basic spell, a flickering flame.
- Fire Breath: an empowered breath of fire against all enemies in a cone.
- Eternity Surge: an empowered salvo of pure magic that hits more targets at higher ranks.
- Disintegrate: a channeled blue beam that slows the target.
- Pyre: a fireball against your target and all nearby enemies.
- Dragonrage: unleashes your draconic fury, your big phase.
- Hover: more speed and casting on the move.
Lore: The Dracthyr
Evokers belong to the Dracthyr, a race that Neltharion, later known as Deathwing, created on the Forbidden Reach. They carry the essence of all five dragonflights. Neltharion's plans failed, and the Dracthyr slept for more than ten thousand years until they awoke in Dragonflight.
Devastation uses the powers of the red and blue dragonflights: Alexstrasza's fire of life and the arcane magic of the blue dragons. That makes the Devastation Evoker the most destructive side of the Dracthyr.

Who Is the Devastation Evoker For?
A good fit if you …
- want to play a dragon,
- are looking for a new, distinct playstyle,
- love fire breath and dragon magic.
Probably not if you …
- want to fight from long range, in which case the Frost Mage or Marksmanship Hunter fits,
- want to play a classic race.
Devastation, Preservation or Augmentation?
Preservation heals with dream and time magic, Augmentation empowers other players. Devastation is the choice for everyone who wants to deal damage as a dragon.
