How It Feels
Holy is the healer as you picture one: robes, Light and big heals that save allies at the last moment. You stand in the second row, keep an eye on health bars and react when damage comes in. Prayers heal the whole group, Holy Words work like small miracles.
It feels reactive and clear. You see damage, you heal it. That makes the Holy Priest one of the best healers for learning to heal at all, while still having enough depth for hard content.
How Holy Works
The Holy Priest heals with mana and rewards you with Holy Words:
- Single target: Flash Heal heals quickly. Every Flash Heal shortens the cooldown of Holy Word: Serenity, a very strong single-target heal.
- Group: Prayer of Healing heals your target and four more allies and shortens the cooldown of Holy Word: Sanctify.
- Proactive: Prayer of Mending jumps from ally to ally and heals as soon as someone takes damage.
- Emergencies: Guardian Spirit increases healing on one target and prevents their death once. Divine Hymn heals everyone nearby over several seconds.

Lore: Servants of the Light
Holy Priests are the keepers of the Holy Light. Their tradition reaches back to Alonsus Faol and the Church of the Holy Light in Lordaeron. Among the Draenei, the prophet Velen embodies this role, bound for millennia to the naaru, beings of pure Light.
In Legion, Holy Priests carried T'uure, Beacon of the Naaru. And in Anduin Wrynn the Alliance has a king who was trained as a priest and whose path is shaped by the Light. In WoW Midnight, as the Void reaches for the Sunwell, the Light matters more than ever.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- a clear, reactive playstyle, ideal for learning,
- strong area healing through prayers and Holy Words,
- very strong emergency buttons,
- plenty of depth for demanding content.
Weaknesses
- cloth, vulnerable to direct hits,
- many heals have cast times, so heavy movement is tricky,
- slow solo.
Who Is the Holy Priest For?
A good fit if you …
- want to heal for the first time,
- prefer reacting over planning ahead,
- love the image of the priest of Light.
Probably not if you …
- want to attack a lot while healing, in which case Discipline fits,
- want a sturdy healer in heavy armor.
Holy, Discipline or Shadow?
Discipline heals through attacks and shields, Shadow deals damage with Void magic. Holy is the choice for the classic healer.
