How It Feels
Fury is the Warrior in a blood frenzy. You wield two weapons, often even two two-handers, and attack at a pace that barely knows pauses. Instead of waiting for the perfect window, you simply keep up the pressure. The screen fills with hits, the Warrior roars, and everything feels like forward momentum.
For many players Fury is the essence of the Warrior. The spec is easy to understand, forgives small mistakes and rewards you with a lot of action per button press.
How Fury Works
Fury also uses Rage generated in combat. The core is Enrage:
- Build Rage: Bloodthirst and Raging Blow generate Rage. Bloodthirst also heals you a little and can trigger Enrage.
- Rampage: with enough Rage you use Rampage, a series of four brutal strikes that reliably Enrages you.
- Stay Enraged: while Enraged you attack faster and deal more damage. You want it active as much as possible.
- Groups: Whirlwind hits all enemies around you and makes your next single-target strikes hit additional targets.
Recklessness is your big cooldown, generating more Rage and more critical strikes. Toward the end of a fight Execute joins in.
Key Abilities
- Bloodthirst: your basic strike, generates Rage, heals you a little and can trigger Enrage.
- Rampage: four brutal strikes in a row that spend Rage and trigger Enrage.
- Raging Blow: a blow with both weapons that generates Rage and, with some luck, resets instantly.
- Whirlwind: hits all enemies around you and makes your next strikes cleave to several targets.
- Recklessness: your big cooldown for more Rage and more critical strikes.
- Enraged Regeneration: reduces damage taken and greatly increases Bloodthirst's healing.
Lore: The Blood Frenzy
No name stands for Fury like Grommash Hellscream, chieftain of the Warsong clan. With his axe Gorehowl he threw himself into every battle and became the symbol of orcish fury, for better and worse. On the Alliance side, Varian Wrynn is the best-known example: as the gladiator Lo'Gosh he fought with two weapons in the arenas of Kalimdor before returning to Stormwind as king.
Fury embodies that unbridled fighting style. Where Arms relies on discipline, Fury lets the rage run free, and that is exactly the appeal.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- easy to learn, lots of action per button press,
- some self-healing through Bloodthirst,
- strong against groups thanks to Whirlwind,
- plate armor and a simple defensive ability.
Weaknesses
- pure melee, lots of movement costs damage,
- fewer survival tools than a Paladin or Death Knight,
- the high pace can be tiring over time.
Who Is the Fury Warrior For?
A good fit if you …
- just want to charge in and hit a lot,
- love the image of a Warrior with two huge weapons,
- want an easy-to-learn melee spec to start with.
Probably not if you …
- prefer to plan and land big hits in windows, in which case Arms fits better,
- want to fight from range.
Fury, Arms or Protection?
Arms is the more deliberate sibling with a two-hander, Protection tanks with a shield. Fury is the pick for everyone who loves pace and constant pressure.
