WoW Forever Healer Classes: Priest, Paladin, Shaman and Druid

Updated: Game version: Beta · launch Nov 4

In short

In WoW Forever, Priest, Paladin, Shaman and Druid can heal. Based on WoW Classic, the Priest is expected to be the most versatile healer, the Paladin especially mana efficient on single targets, the Shaman strong for groups with Chain Heal and the Druid with healing over time and an in-combat resurrection. New: Paladin and Shaman are available to both factions in Forever.

No group gets far in WoW Forever without a healer. Healing is about awareness and mana: if you heal efficiently and think ahead, you will last through long fights. In WoW Forever, four classes can heal, and each feels different.

Our basis: WoW Forever launches on November 4, 2026 and builds on WoW Classic. This guide is based on Classic experience. Forever reworks the talent trees with new milestone talents, so the balance between the healers may shift. We will check after launch.

Priest: the all-rounder

The Priest has the biggest healing toolkit: Greater Heal for the tank, Flash Heal for emergencies, Prayer of Healing for the group and Power Word: Shield to absorb damage. In Classic it was the backbone of every raid, and it is likely to be again in Forever.

A good fit if you want to be the classic healer and like having the right spell for every situation.

Paladin: efficient and unshakable

The Paladin heals single targets, usually the tank, very mana efficiently with Flash of Light and Holy Light. In emergencies Lay on Hands saves instantly, and its blessings strengthen the whole group. It also wears plate and can take a lot.

A good fit if you want to focus on the tank. New in Forever: with the Undead Paladin it is available to the Horde for the first time.

Shaman: healing for the whole group

The Shaman shines with Chain Heal when several players take damage, and Healing Wave gives it a strong single-target heal. Its totems strengthen the group, and Mana Tide Totem gives everyone mana back.

A good fit if you want to keep an eye on the whole group. New in Forever: the Dwarf Shaman brings the Shaman to the Alliance for the first time.

Druid: healing over time

The Druid heals mostly with effects over time: Rejuvenation and Regrowth work ahead of the damage, Swiftmend helps in emergencies. Innervate gives other healers mana, and Rebirth brings the fallen back in the middle of a fight.

A good fit if you like to plan ahead and want to roam as a bear or cat now and then.

Tips for new healers in WoW Forever

  1. Watch your mana. Small, targeted heals get you further than big spells on full health.
  2. Drink between fights. Let your group know when you need mana.
  3. Stand safe. Stay in range of the tank, but away from the enemies.
  4. Heal ahead. You can often anticipate damage on the tank before it hits.

Which healer suits you?

The Forever quiz shows which class suits your playstyle, or send the four healers into the Forever tournament. For current WoW there is the guide to healer classes in Midnight.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best healer class in WoW Forever?

Most likely the Priest as the most versatile healer, just like in WoW Classic. Paladin, Shaman and Druid each have their own strengths: efficient single-target healing, Chain Heal for groups and healing over time. Since Forever reworks the talent trees, we will check this after launch.

Can the Horde play Paladins in WoW Forever?

Yes. In WoW Classic, Paladins were Alliance only. In WoW Forever, Undead can become Paladins, so the Horde gets Paladin healers too. In turn, the Alliance gets its first Shaman with the Dwarf Shaman.

Are healers in demand in WoW Forever?

Very likely. As in WoW Classic, healers are always wanted for dungeons and raids, and anyone who can heal finds a group quickly.
