What is different from retail?

Coming from modern WoW, you will need to adjust. Classic classes have fewer abilities per rotation, but resources, positioning and preparation matter much more. Leveling takes far longer, and classes without self-healing need regular breaks. Not every role is equally open to every class either, as talent trees are built around one main job.

Solo or group?

Lots of solo play: Hunter and Warlock are the classics. Their pet holds enemies, and they get far without a group. The Mage levels quickly with area damage but takes practice.

Prefer groups: healers and tanks are worth their weight in gold in Classic. As a Priest, Paladin, Shaman or Druid healer you will always find a group. The Warrior is the most sought-after tank but levels slowly alone.

PvP: Rogue, Warrior, Mage and Priest have a long PvP tradition in Classic.

Use the new combinations

Forever allows combinations that didn't exist before, such as Undead Paladins, Dwarf Shamans or Orc Mages. If your favorite class used to be locked to the other faction, you now have new options. All details are in our guide to races and classes in WoW Forever.

Pick a class whose fantasy carries you. Classic is a long journey, and a class you enjoy will still be fun after 50 hours. If you can't decide, let your favorites fight it out in the Forever arena.
